What inspired you to create this particular wellness workshop?
A lot is going on in the world right now that is not going according to the script in
our heads, and we are feeling stressed. The daily build-up of emotions is starting to
wear us out, so this is an opportunity to access new tools to restore our calm, our
confidence, and our courage.
* Can you give us a brief overview of what attendees can expect from the workshop?
You can expect to meet other people who are worried about the future, people who wish
bad things would stop happening, and people who are starting to feel exhausted. You
can expect to learn a simple technique that is completely free and available to everyone
to deal with these thoughts and feelings so that they don’t overwhelm you.
* What is the main goal you hope participants will achieve by the end of the workshop?
By the end of the workshop, participants will know EXACTLY how to deal with the
thoughts and feelings that are taking up space in their minds: the thoughts
and feelings which upset us, deplete us, scare us, and just generally make us unhappy.
* What kind of atmosphere do you hope to create during the workshop?
This is a completely safe space for everyone. I have 35 years of experience in
facilitating groups, and I can guarantee that EVERYONE IS WELCOME and will be
treated respectfully.
* What are you most excited about sharing with the participants?
Being stressed, anxious, or unhappy IS NOT YOUR ONLY OPTION! In just over an
hour, you can learn a technique that you can get started on right away to feel calmer, to
think more clearly, and to go about your day with more confidence.
* What is your background and experience in the wellness field?
On January 4th, 1990, I got my first job as an intern in the field of Mental Health. In the
past 35 years, I’ve never thought of doing anything else. There are two reasons for this:
I loved empowering people (for sure!), but also, I myself was desperately unhappy and I
wanted to find a cure for my own misery. Luckily, I did! And today I share my
experience, strength, and hope with anyone who wishes to feel better. I use an IFS-
informed approach to teach people how to access an INNER RESOURCE THAT
EVERYONE POSSESSES that enables us to live joy-filled lives.
I don’t call myself a therapist anymore, though. I like to say that my therapist-parts have
retired. Today I call myself an accompagnatrice for two reasons: first, because I
accompany my clients as they learn to heal themselves, and second, because the word
translates into companion, and I like that because it makes me think of companionship, and that’s what my work is about these days: my clients feel better because
They work with me, and I feel better because I work with them!
* What led you to focus on helping people find peace of mind?
It’s the most important thing. Without equanimity, there can be no compassion, for oneself or others. And with it, we ACCESS AN INNER RESOURCE THAT EMPOWERS
US TO LIVE JOY-FULL LIVES.
What is the exact time and location of the workshop?
June 1st At the Creating Centre in Vankleek Hill, 11 High Street. At 2 pm.
* Is there a limit to the number of participants?
Nope. Everyone will get their worksheet and instructions.
* How can people sign up or register for the workshop?
Just contact me, Dorit Perlin, at [email protected] or 613-571-2662 if you
want to reserve a spot, but drop-ins are welcome.
